When Susan awoke to her baby crying, she didn’t notice anything wrong. It appeared to be any other morning. She’d gotten up and shuffled to the bathroom to change Roy, her baby boy’s diaper. She didn’t notice anything wrong while making his milk until she was about to pour it into his cup and she was about to scream.

40-year-old Susan is a single parent. She had dated before, but it had never gone well. She hoped that things would be different this time. She’d spent a significant amount of time preparing for the date. She was hoping for the best because it was their first time meeting in person, but not everything would go as planned.

She met the man online, knowing it was a long shot, but she went out with him anyway. The date was nothing out of the ordinary. He didn’t seem particularly interested in Susan’s child from a previous relationship. After the date, she wasn’t sure if she wanted to see him again.

The doctor’s office scheduled a semi-urgent appointment for that afternoon. They told her that while there would be others ahead of baby Roy, she would most likely see her by the end of the day. Meanwhile, the doctor told Susan that she needed to do something to help him.

While they waited for the results of Susan’s tests, the doctor examined Roy’s nose intently. The strange thing was that baby Roy had been crying earlier, but he no longer did. His entire nose had gone numb. When the doctor pushed on it, it didn’t even hurt. This was a warning sign.

Before her doctor could finish speaking, three armed officers entered the building and noticed Susan. “It’s THEM!” screamed the doctor, pointing at Susan. All three officers took out their pistols and carefully aimed them at Susan, who was now feeling faint. What on earth was going on?!

Susan quickly raised her hands in the air as the cops focused their attention on her. She was almost in tears and begged them all to just tell her what was going on. The police told the baby to stay back because the holes in her nose thumb had taken up nearly half of her nose.

Susan agreed to the terms but stated unequivocally that she would not hesitate to break open another door to obtain answers. She was terrified, and no one was helping her.

Susan returned to the doctor’s office, and the door closed behind her. Susan noticed the staff entering with heavy cleaning materials and immediately began cleaning everything, including the floors, walls, and door. Finally, the doctor arrived at the door to inform Susan of the situation.

Susan was at a loss for words. She told the cops and his doctor about the route he’d taken and what she’d seen that could be useful. She didn’t know what else to do. She was more concerned with the treatment plan. Could they possibly treat the baby? Or is this virus going to eat his nose off?

Fortunately for Susan, the hospital had the necessary medication, but the baby had to be isolated for a while. The police had been called because they needed to speak with Susan about her hike, but when they saw her leave the isolated room, they panicked because her doctor had panicked. It was a huge shambles, but there was more.

They also had to make certain that no one else became infected. Susan and Roy were safely transported to a better hospital where they could be isolated and treated for the virus that was eating his nose away. Fortunately, the medication stopped the virus from spreading and began reversing the problem within a few days. What about the plant, though?

The officers had kept everyone off the trail and had discovered a plant that was not native to the area after extensive searching. It was tested and determined to be the source of Susan’s issue. It was uprooted and destroyed. There haven’t been any more cases since, and Susan was completely recovered and ready to go on dates again within a month.
